Singapore consumer price index (CPI) slipped 0.1 percent in June on a month-over-month basis, Statistics Singapore data showed. However, on a year-over-year term, Singapore consumer price index expanded 0.5 percent in the same period.
Similarly, for the year-to-date period too, Singapore CPI increased 0.7 percent in June.
Clothing and footwear the worst with the prices dropping 1.8 percent in June from the preceding month followed by communication sector’s 1.1 percent fall. Transport, household durables and services, and housing and utilities have recorded a fall of 0.6 percent, 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent respectively.
Prices of recreation and culture, education and miscellaneous goods and services expanded 0.8 percent, 0.1 percent and 0.1 percent respectively in June compared to May. Food remained stable in the month.
On a year-over-year basis, Singapore consumer price index gained due to 3.2 percent increase in education and 2.5 percent advance in health care prices. Clothing and footwear followed it with 1.9 percent gain, Transport 1.8 percent, food 1.4 percent, household durable and services 0.3 percent and miscellaneous goods and services 0.2 percent.
For the year-to-date period too, Education drove the Singapore consumer price index up.
