Bulgaria Current account and Capital account deficient widened in April to EUR 88.3 million compared to a negative balance of EUR 61.5 million in the year-ago month, a release from Bulgaria National Bank indicated.
For the four month period January – April, the current and capital current was a negative EUR 3.3 million compared to a surplus of EUR 718.6 million in the same period of the previous year. As a percentage of GDP, the latest data suggested 0.01 percent while the year-ago data represented 1.5 percent.
As far as current account, the release indicated a negative EUR 97.3 million in April versus a deficit of EUR 81.8 million in the same period last year. For the four month period, current account was a negative EUR124.9 million compared to a surplus of EUR 136.9 million.
Similarly, the balance on goods witnessed a deficit of EUR 289.6 million in April, which was wider than a deficit of EUR 140.2 million in the year-ago month. Exports of goods increased 13.3 percent to EUR 2.01 billion from EUR 1.77 billion recorded in the previous year month.
