Bulgaria consumer prices eased in June, National Statistical Institute release revealed. The annual inflation rate expanded to 1.9 percent in the same period.
However, on a month-on-month term, Bulgaria consumer prices fell 0.5 percent in June. Food and non-alcoholic beverages fell 1.2 percent whereas clothing and footwear dipped 0.6 percent. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels also fell 0.2 percent. On the other hand, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products recorded an increase of 0.2 percent in prices.
The current data suggested that Bulgaria consumer prices witnessed a slower rate since the previous month witnessed a year-over-year increase of 2.3 percent. The release pointed out that prices have been on the upswing after December last year.
On a year-over-year basis, food and non-alcoholic beverages price advanced 4.4 percent while transport prices advanced 2.7 percent in June. However, prices of clothing and footwear fell 1.1 percent.
Bulgaria’s harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) expanded 1.1 percent from the previous year. On a month-on-month term, the index fell 0.2 percent.
